ABOUT

Dan grew up in the Bay Area of Northern California aspiring to be a film artist. During his studies at the Academy of Art University San Francisco, he developed an interest in Visual Effects.  There, he won the 'Best Hard Surface Model' award for 2005 at the Spring Awards Show. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Effects, he began his professional career as a Digital Modeller at The Orphanage located in San Francisco, California.
He continued building his portfolio at  Digital Domain where he was an integral part of the Visual Effects pipeline for movies such as The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Meet the Robinsons, Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End, Letters from Iwo Jima and Flags of our Father. He later worked in the commercial arena, creating digital assets for ESPN, Dr Pepper, Microsoft Xbox and Nissan commercials during his time at  The Famous Group and Sway Studios in Los Angeles, California.
Dan was inspired to grow in his craft after watching The Lord of the Rings movie directed by Sir Peter Jackson in 2001. His work experience paid off in 2008 when his career landed him in Wellington, New Zealand at one of the top Visual Effects companies in the world, Weta Digital Ltd. He has now worked on some of the most high-profile international films such as The Hobbit, Avatar, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, X-Men: First Class and The A-Team.
Dan currently lives in Vancouver, BC with his family and working at ILM as a Senior Creature Modeler. When not immersed in a film project, Dan enjoys mountain biking, photography and traveling. He has traveled to 20 different countries.
To date, Dan has been credited in 25 films and has 16 years experience in the field of Visual Effects. He specializes in organic modelling.
